Hi, I’m Luciana - founder of Her Safe Start. Her Safe Start was born from something deeply personal: understanding just how difficult it can be to navigate life when you are trying to keep yourself and your children safe while simultaneously dealing with the emotional, practical and sometimes legal consequences of domestic abuse. I know that rebuilding isn’t simply about leaving. There can be so much that comes afterwards — finding somewhere safe to live, understanding your options, navigating professionals and services, rebuilding your confidence, looking after your children and trying to figure out who you are again. And sometimes, the hardest part is simply knowing where to start. That is why I created Her Safe Start. I wanted to create something that felt human. A place where women could reach out without feeling judged, dismissed or like they had to have everything figured out before asking for help. My vision is to help women feel heard, informed, supported and empowered to take their next step. Through Her Safe Start, I want to bring together practical support, advocacy, education and trusted referral pathways so women don’t have to navigate every part of rebuilding completely alone. I also believe strongly in collaboration. Domestic abuse can involve housing, legal matters, safeguarding, finances, mental health and many other areas, and no single person or organisation can provide everything. That’s why Her Safe Start aims to work alongside appropriate professionals and specialist organisations, creating pathways to the right support when it is needed. This isn’t about telling women what to do. It’s about helping them understand their options. It’s about reminding them that their voice matters. And it’s about helping them take that first step towards a safer future. Her Safe Start is my way of turning experience into purpose — and creating something that I hope will help other women feel a little less alone.
